On SA Soil... Finally!
Finally arrived in SA!
Took over 48hrs since we got on the first flight in Raleigh, but we're glad to be here!
Now for the 4hr drive from Johannesburg to Piet Retief.
Priority points on today's agenda: shower, eat, sleep!
- Team Quotes
Waylon: "First time flying, but I like it. As long as they don't give me a middle seat."
Beth: "So good to be back on South African Airways."
Robin: "Got my 5hrs of sleep in."
Becca: "I need a shower!"
Griff: "Glad to be on the trip, but thinking about my dad as he goes through his treatment back home."
Patti: "I like Germany! One of the airport police officers said if I lived in Frankfort he would have asked me out for dinner!"
Steve: "Proud of the team! It hasn't been the easiest two days in transit, but everyone stayed strong and showed a great attitude."
Schnitzel For Lunch!
It's been a long and eventful day in Frankfurt!
At least we were able to see a little bit of the city, and get the Germany feel. While we were having lunch (everyone ordered schnitzel), the German fans were getting ready to cheer on Germany against France in their World Cup soccer game.
We've definitely seen God's favor in getting our flight tickets secured, and our luggage made it here from Charlotte! PTL
About to board for SA!
Touch Down Germany
We arrived safely in Frankfurt.
Have an 8hr layover here. Flying to SA tonight, and will get there 7:30am SA time. The team's doing good.
Pray with us for a safe connection flight, and that all our luggage makes it to SA.

Be Patient... Be Flexible...
The whole time preparing for this trip, we kept saying that the key for a mission trip is to "be patient & be flexible."
Well, on day 1 we've already had to apply both.
We were off to a good start when we flew from Raleigh to Charlotte. But then, thanks to Arthur (the hurricane), our flight to DC got canceled.
So after a lot of patience, and flexibility,
we got rerouted to fly to Frankfurt, spend most of the day there, then fly to South Africa Fri pm.
So we'll be arriving in SA Sat am.
We said this was going to be an adventure, so Germany, here we come!
